The Museums Association (MA) has launched the Anti-Racist Museums Programme, aimed at fostering inclusivity and equity across the UK.

The initiative is a vital step towards dismantling systemic racism in our cultural institutions.

Our programme will collaborate with museums from various governance types and specialisms, each committed to transforming their practices. By embracing anti-racist principles, the institutions will work to ensure that their collections, exhibitions and educational programmes reflect the diversity of our society and histories.

Participants in the programme will engage in training, workshops and community dialogues designed to unearth and address racial biases.

This initiative will also provide a platform for sharing best practices, resources and strategies for creating more inclusive environments. The goal is to educate staff and stakeholders, and to cultivate spaces where all visitors feel represented and respected.

Museums are crucial in shaping public understanding and fostering social change. By supporting them in their journey towards anti-racism, the MA aims to contribute to a more equitable cultural landscape.

Together, we can create museums that represent and celebrate the rich tapestry of our society.
