The museum fit-out company, Elmwood Projects, has entered liquidation after filing for insolvency in July.
The Glasgow-based firm provided services for a range of high-profile museum and gallery projects, including the recent redevelopments of Glasgow’s Burrell Collection and St Fagans National Museum of History in Wales.
It also counted the Science Museum, National Museums Liverpool, the David Livingstone Birthplace Museum and the Museum of the Home among its clients.
On its LinkedIn page, the company described itself as a family business that grew “from a local shop fitting and bespoke manufactured joinery firm to a multi-service business operating the length and breadth of the UK”.
Founded in 1972, the firm offered services including permanent and temporary museum exhibition and gallery fit-out, visitor experiences, heritage projects, commercial and office fit-out, and specialist joinery packages.
Notice of a petition to wind up the company was reported in the Gazette on 28 June and the firm entered compulsory liquidation on 25 July.
The company is the second museum supplier to close in recent months. The construction and fit-out firm Beck Interiors also announced its insolvency in July.
Brian Milne and Ian Wright of Quantuma Advisory Limited have been appointed as joint interim liquidators for Elmwood Projects. They can be contacted on 0141 285 0910 or glasgow@quantuma.com.
