Open Minds: Understanding Copyright in Museums
Online, Zoom
Recent legal cases and the rapid development of technology such as AI have serious ramifications for copyright and licensing in museums.
This online event will examine what these mean for the sector and the way we approach copyright. The event asks how can I make sure I am following the correct copyright guidelines? And how can I use copyright and licensing to the advantage of my museum?
Through a mix of panel discussion, case studies and audience participation, the event will explore…
- the latest approaches and trends to collections copyright
- the impact of technological developments and AI on copyright
- how to balance access to collections, funders’ requirements and commercial opportunities with the law
- income streams relating to copyright
- legal updates.
A full programme will be available in due course.
Please note that this event will be recorded and available exclusively to delegates for three months. After that time, it will be made available to members on the Museums Association website.
We aim to present a diverse range of speakers from across the UK and internationally at our one-day conferences. If you are interested in speaking at one of our events, or have a project you’d like to see explored, please tell us more by emailing the events team.
