Calf weaning (anti-suckling) collar

Object Description

Collar used to deter sucking and so encourage weaning. Collar fitted onto calf so that when it tries to suckle the spikes irritate the udder and the mother shoes away. Seems very unfair on the mother who is spiked in her tender parts but widely used on small farms where the calf stays with the mother for longer.
This is an old steel and leather model (age uncertain), modern ones have plastic spikes so are more considerate!
