Decolonising Museums
The next Commonwealth Association of Museums (CAM) Conference will take place in Cape Town, South Africa from 9 to 14 March 2020.

Hosted in partnership with Iziko Museums of South Africa and the University of Cape Town at the South Africa Museum, the theme of the triennial conference is Living Forward, Looking Back: Museum Practice for Post-Colonial Futures.

The conference will address issues of difficult histories in postcolonial societies. Sessions will explore the ways in which museums can enact social change through addressing decolonisation, reconciliation and community engagement.

Three keynote speakers have been announced: Suay Aksoy, the president of the International Council of Museums; Webber Ndoro, the executive director of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property; and Ciraj Rassool, an author and a professor of History at the University of the Western Cape.
